Setting Up OutLook & configuration for use with IMAP




 

Open Outlook and click Tools and choose Email Accounts.

Then choose "Add a new e-mail account".

Choose the method you would like:

IMAP --> This will keep your email on the server and download headers upon request.
This means you must be online to view your email at any time.

IMAP setup

Click Next.


Next make sure that the Manually configure check box is checked.

Click Next.


Check the Internet E-mail radio button.

Click Next.

User Information:
Your Name: This can be anything you wish.
E-Mail address: The email address you are setting up.

Server Information:
Incoming: mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing: mail.yourdomain.com
If you experience issues with this, you should set the SMTP to your ISP's SMTP server such as smtp.yourisp.net.

Login Information:
Username: For your default account, this is just your username. For any subsequent mailbox setup, it
is mailbox@domain.com where domain.com is your domain.
Password: your password for the mailbox


Click "More Settings".


Last step: Check the check box for "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
Check the Radio button to use the same settings as my incoming mail server.
Then click OK

Click Next & then Finish. Your new IMAP account within OutLook is now setup and ready to use.

If you follow the steps above as seen in the images, you should have IMAP E-mail setup and working.
